Early education and Medical Training
After schooling and pre-university studies in Bangalore. I completed MBBS from Government Medical College, Bellary (now VIMS Bellary) in 1989. Did my MD in Pediatrics from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore in 1993, and Diplomate National Board in Pediatrics (DNB) from the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi in 1995. Concerned about the growing incidence of Non-Communicable diseases (NCDs) among my young clients, I have now gained a qualification of PG Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine (PGDLM) from CMC, Vellore in 2025
Work experience
Started Gurukripa Clinic in a small room on New BEL Road in 1993. In 2018, to enhance the facilities and experience for our clients, we shifted to a larger clinic at Bagaria Complex, (Above Union Bank of India), New BEL Road, Bengaluru.
In 2025, we became a part of the Shishuka Group,
and are now called Gurukripa Shishuka Children's Clinic, offering comprehensive and multi-speciality
pediatric care under one roof

Consultant Pediatrician at Lakshmi Maternity and Surgical Centre, Malleswaram, a busy and popular hospital for maternal and child care in Malleswaram. Formerly Visiting Consultant in Pediatrics at the M S Ramaiah Memorial Hospital, New BEL Road, Columbia Asia Referral Hospital (now Manipal), Yeshwantpur, and Manipal Hospital, Malleswaram.
Family
Married to Dr. Prathima Kini, a graduate of Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore and post graduation in Pathology from Bangalore Medical College. She is also a certified consultant in Lifestyle Medicine, holding the Dip IBLM degree certified by the International School of Lifestyle Medicine (ISLM)
